HERMAN JONES LLP CELEBRATES ITS FIRST ANNIVERSARY

It’s hard to believe that a year has come and gone since we officially launched Herman Jones LLP (HJ) – opening our doors in Atlanta, New Jersey and Seattle on July 1, 2019. We thank our clients who have entrusted their matters to us, as well as our superb and dedicated team of attorneys and staff. What a year it has been!

HJ has counseled clients with matters ranging from crisis and contract management during the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic; to protecting clients’ trade secrets and intellectual property rights; working to vindicate the rights of shareholders; filing a historic antitrust matter against Alphabet’s Google and YouTube; helping clients navigate financial rules and regulations in the wake of the market dislocating events of early 2020; and keeping fast-paced investment deals and venture capital funds moving forward, while assuring that companies maintain efficient and effective compliance practices and procedures. And – Herman Jones LLP is hiring!

Just a few highlights, looking back over the year:

  • Our Chairman, John C. Herman, was named once again as a Super Lawyer in 2020, and was recognized in Atlanta Magazine as a 2020 Top Attorney in Georgia Our team of attorneys and staff have had an amazing first year including

  • Herman Jones LLP, together with Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd (RGRD), was appointed as Co-Lead Counsel in the In Re Beazer Homes USA, Inc. Derivative Litigation by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia

  • HJ attorneys helped RGRD obtain a $107 million settlement in the long-standing Orbital ATK securities litigation;

  • HJ filed a misappropriation of trade secrets against Caterpillar Inc.;

  • HJ obtained a $9 million settlement for a client on patent infringement royalties;

  • HJ filed a substantial patent infringement case on behalf of AgJunction involving its innovative self-driving tractor technology;

  • HJ filed a historic antitrust action against Google, YouTube and parent company Alphabet, on behalf of Inform Inc., and we continue to watch and follow the DOJ and State AGs investigations pursing the same;

  • HJ successfully advocated for a securities fraud class certification for shareholders of Southern Company;

  • Multiple securities and shareholder derivative matters have been filed by HJ around the country to hold officers and directors of prominent companies accountable for alleged conduct; and

  • Our deal team continues to service corporate clients in fund formation, investment deals, and regulatory advice and advise on governance, risk and compliance issues.
